A couple of days ago I had a little problem that will leave me without my regular PC for at least a week. What happened was, I heard a crashing sound coming from my tower. I dismissed it as something from the other room or whatever. A minute or two later, my pc just shut down. I fired it back up and it started to boot but shut down again. So, I opened up the case to find that my heat sink and fan had fell off the motherboard. A tab broke off of the mounting bracket that is attached to the motherboard so I thought I was screwed. I called ASUS tech support and found out my motherboard came with a 3 year warranty Shocked To my surprise, ASUS is sending me the part and aren't charging me a dime. So even though I'm without my computer for a bit, I'm happy with choosing an ASUS motherboard. So if you plan on building a PC, you may want to check out what ASUS is offering(I have a M2N-SLI Deluxe, very nice)

So with that said, I'm limited on what I can do on my laptop and can't get to any of my files Sad I just really hope it didn't fry my processor or damage anything else, but I won't know until I get the part and hook it all back up. My fingers are crossed Laughing

Nice!
Here's my little baby http://zoehaywood.com/blog/index.php/pc-parts-not-in-stock-woohoo?blog=2

I think the processor should be ok as it protected itself by shutting down. ASUS and Gigabyte boards usually handle that very well which is one of the reasons I use them for custom PC builds.

Well, my part finally came Smile I was starting to think it wasn't going to come so I ordered a new fancy heatsink setup (along with some other goodies Smile ). Soon after I went out to send out some letters for tomorrow and I found the package tucked in my mailbox Confused They must have came back after I got my mail out yesterday and it sat in my mailbox overnight. I could have avoided ordering the new heatsink, but oh well, I have a backup now Smile I'm just happy to have my workstation back up and running. Laptops suck!.?

I was panicking a bit myself yesterday when the temp went to 50 degrees. Had to take the side off the case and get the wifes hairdryer blowing in (on cold obviously lol).
