This is the official suggestion thread for the next version of The Digital Shop. If you have suggested a feature in the past that didn't make it, feel free to suggest it again.
I think the feature that a lot of people want to see is the ability to handle physical goods. I would like to hear some opinions on this matter, so don't be afraid to speak up. |

Well you had to ask lol.
1 Ability to track 'free' items is a must for me as I need to know who has downloaded a product so I can give them support for that product. We have all suffered the problem of people re-distributing code, so this would be my way of verifying whether someone is entitled to support.
2 A few Shop 'themes' - these should be available as extra's and as seperate items here so those who are graphically challenged can buy a ready made 'look' for my shop.
3 Maybe some seperate 'plug-ins' for the Shop;
maybe a MOD for the forums
or Members Profile to show which users have downloaded which products.
Maybe a plugin to work with NSN Groups - say you are selling 'themes', you create a Shop category of 'Themes' so whenever someone buys a theme, the plug-in looks to see if a Group 'Themes' exists, if it does, it adds the user to that Group if they are not already in it
I will email you some other things |

I read in your first post that people want a way to handle physical goods, i say no way to that. For one reason this shop is called Digital Shop, not Physical Shop, if they want a way to handle goods like that, then you should make a physical shop by itself. I think the digital shop is perfect, the way it is setup for digital goods, lol thats just my opinion.. |

maybe add a field for shipping information should a 'box' be ticked for shipping i.e tutorials or themes burnt to a disk for the user. And obviously no shipping info required if it isnt ticked.
And maybe toggle the option through the admin when adding a new item.
I quite like the idea of the digital shop being able to cope with other types of distribution, bringing more custom to this very usful piece of kit. And of course customers get everything in one place. As well as the consumer end being able to use the same shop / shopping cart should they want to expand and start sending CD's of the digital goods.
And also another idea, charge a little more than usualy for digital goods on cd beause the download limit would not apply? or maybe another way to look at it, if download limit is reached, an option to purchase a tangible version of the item?
Just a few ideas and thoughts on what you wanted to hear gotcha. |

Option to add vat or a tax (optional of course)
Option to add delivery address from the paypal account (I know our shop currently does this because we edited it, but would be good to have it on or off in admin) |

Just a thought "WishList" function? I frequent 3d sites and the ones i can build a wishlist in are ones that buy from most. I can add items that catch my attention and later, when i have the money i can purchase without scrubbing the catelog agian. If you want i can provide an idea of the setup. But just a thought. |

mralikorn so you mean something like a 'shopping cart' where you can put items in and then select which stored items you want to buy and the next time you go to your 'cart' you can buy the remaining items when you want or have the money too without having to browse the whole shop again? Nice idea. |

Yess Sir. Thats it. Just like clicking add to cart only to add to wish list. From the wishlist you have the options to "delete" or "Move to Cart" The indivual items. Also (After thought) the option to Email your wishlist to your friends For Gift Ideas. It should be fairly easy, clone the Shops Cart page and add the "delete" or "Move to Cart" to the indiv products on the page and replace the checkout with "Go to Cart Button"And maby an "Add All to cart" button. But the ability to add items from the wishlist to the cart indivualy is most appealing.
I'll spend a day compileing wishlist of the things that I would like to have and most of the time when im ready to purchase that list is where I go Id say 90% of my online purches are from my wishlist. |

I quite like the idea but don't really see myself why you would want to have both a 'wishlist' and a seperate cart page that shows items you have selected - it just seems like it is duplicate functionality.
All that's really needed is for users to be able to select individual items which are then stored on a 'cart' page (you could call it 'wishlist' or anything else for that matter) and then the user can select from the list of products, perhaps my checkboxes, the items they wish to purchase at that precise moment.
They 'key' is to get the Shop to remember previously selected items that have not been purchased and display those on the cart page so they only have to click the checboxes for the items they want to prchase or remove from the page.
I'm sure if there was enough interest, it might be a useful features so we'll have to wait and see I guess |

And if you (like us) sell things using different paypal address then if you had 3-4 items in your wish-list being sold by different people, you would still only be able to buy one at a time. |

I think an integration with vBulletin should be included with the next release as alot of people(like myself) have moved away from nuke and its forks, to other things like vBulletin, and IPB, and phpbb3..so i think vB integration is an awesome idea.. |

Aren't vBulletin, Invision Power Board and phpBB3 just forums? I would have thought Digital Shop would have a bigger customer base for CMS users. |
