Probably a server configuration problem.

Any other idea's beyond that? I can host any other chat program such as ajax chat, flash chat and a few others I have tried..

If you think it's the hosting I have I would need exact information as to what to explain to them otherwise it's like telling them too look for a needle in a hay stack...

I think this might be related to use of ob_start which is a compression handler.
I have not idea why your host might not allow that as it is a basic and default function within PHP so you could check to see if they allow ob_start output buffering
