Live Chat works very well for all my members that have tested the chat except one. When he tries to access Live Chat he gets this error message:

Error accessing the server!
TypeError: httpRequest.responseXML is null

When he goes back to Home and tries to enter again, he gets the identical error. If he logs out and log in again the chat is working normally. I guess 10-20 members have tried the chat but only one gets this error message.

Find out what browser they are using. I'd guess they are using IE6, but I could be wrong. In IE6, I think there is a browser setting that enables/disables httpRequest and that could be a problem. Other then that, IE6 normally works fine with the Live Chat. Also, google chrome and apple safari are known to not work with live chat.

Get whatever info you can about the users browsers and post back.

He is using Firefox 3.0.4, which is the browser I am using myself also without any error. The error happens when being in the chat, he goes to another site and when returning to the chat he gets this error. He has tried to empty cache and cookies, but it did not help.

I use firefox 3.0.4 also and I can't replicate the error. When he goes to a new site, I'm not sure if he is viewing it in a new tab/window or in the same tab then clicking "Back" to come back to chat, but either way, I can't get it to happen.

What version of nuke are you using?

I have PHP-Nuke 7.6 and patched 3.3. The site he visits is mostly www.stumbleupon.com.

I still can't replicate the problem... can you?
I know Live Chat isn't perfect and errors like this are hard for me to track down. The problem could be a browser setting, addon, javascript conflict or errors. But of all browsers to have a problem, Firefox is the most unlikely to have problems. When I get around to re-writing Live Chat, I will be using either jquery or prototype framework which should make errors like these more unlikely and easier to debug. I can't say when I'll be able to get it done, but I will announce it when I do.

I can't reproduce this error either and I have no idea what could have caused it. He can fix the problem by logging out and then logging in again, so it is not a big issue. Only one user has this problem also. Most grateful for your help.

jQuery would be cool and I'm sure more RN users would move to it as jQuery framework is already accessible in RN Wink
