Using backup files

I'm doing my yearly upgrades of sites and had to restore one of them after some difficulties. Anyway, my ANB module has been producing (faithfully) daily backups of my databases for over six months. It wasn't til yesterday when I wanted to use one that I realized I had a problem.

Usually, I use my vdeck at ipowerweb.com to restore databases. However, I discovered that it relys on datbase backup files it usually produces in tar.gz format and did not accept the format the ANB module produces. I also tried uploading via my phpmyadmin and was timed out.

Now, I am no expert in this area but is it possible for you to make the ANB produce a tar.gz format? Or can you give me tips on how to use this file to restore a database?

Well here is what i would try.....

Search on Google for bigdump.php and download it.
Download your backup and uncompress it
Upload your uncompressed .sql backup and the bigdump.php script into a directory.

then call it from your browser like so..

http://yoursite.com/directory/bigdump.php

You should see the backup file listed there and just follow the on screen instructions.
