Ive just changed my host and eventually got nuke working again. Got a few problems as I upgraded and lost my old forum / site.

I need some serious help.

Here are a few of my issues. lol sorry to burden ya.

Code:
This is a mail I sent to the host who's server space I am renting.

Im using your service to host a PHP Nuke forum on fly fishing. Ive been having problems with a security issue. Members cant access registration e.mails from the site because the e.mail ‘is potentially from an untrustworthy source’?? I get this too on my hotmail account. I think there outlook e.mail client is dumping the e.mails into the junk folder automatically.
Also I cant access the web site from my work pc as the server sees the host an ‘untrustworthy’ and blocks access?. Can you give me some advice on how to fix this so the site is secure and we don’t have anymore issues like this?

Best regards

Also since ive upgraded to 8.1 I cant get the old forum back online, I believe if I host the site on my own pc using Xampp I can do the upgrades to get the old site to version 8.1 then transfer the SQL database over to regain all the lost posts, members, content etc.

The problem I have is that on the old host I did a control panel backup (full backup) and now the SQL database appears as one large 25meg file? How do I open this to split it into managabble chunks, Ive tried BIGDUMP to no avail.

Any ideas fellas.

Oh great site admin, like the style.....

Your mail problems looks like your host has no shared SLL certificates or more likely no SPF record - so you might ask your host if they use a shared SSL certificate for EXIM - if I knew the IP of the server I can easily find out Wink
In any event, your host should not have this issue if they are a reputable hosting company, personally, I would move!!

BigDump should not have a problem with a sql file of that size and I have even used notepad++ to open sql files up to 40mb in size without problems to split it into smaller chunks - it does take a few seconds for the initial file to load though.

You say you re upgrading your old site to 8.1 - may I ask why?
phpNuke 7.6 was considered the best release by many, though even that one is riddled with bugs and security issues.

Cheers for the reply Guardian.

The host just sent me a response to a ticket I issued with the problems listed he has sent me the shared SSL domain name and this seems to have fixed the issue, for now.
The reason I went for 8.1 was just because it was the latest issue, with my previous host, and running 7.xx not sure, I had a mail from the host informing me that (all of a sudden) my web site was generating 300 error logs per second (at peak times), eventually they say, it will cause our server to crash. Which apparently it did on the odd occasion, when I looked at the logs they were for all kinds of reasons relating to nuke and the database.
I had just paid the subscription for the year and I asked for a full reimbursement and cancelled the server, the only data I had was a previous backup from around 2 weeks previous.
The idea that Ive been running with is to host the old site on my home pc using Xampp and then do the upgrades, until if feasible I can move the SQL Db and replace the existing one. Well that’s the idea anyhow.

Yeah, we got rid of thousands of errrors in RavenNuke which is based on nuke 7.6 so it doesn't suprise me - a lot of host moan about nuke but even the bad versions can usually be made t play nice.
I think the version number is in the nuke
_config table if you ever need to check which one you have.

Good luck and if we can help, we will.

Yeah, bad mail setups can ruin a site(registration emails getting bounced makes it hard to get users) but it is usually your hosts responsibility to set this up correctly. If they can't help you out, I would suggest looking for a new one.

As for the nuke version, 8.1 is horrible even though it is supposed to be the latest and greatest. It is full of bugs and security holes and should be avoided like the plague. RavenNuke is the way to. Much more secure, runs faster, uses less server resources, etc...

Yes, there are fairly comprehensive instructions on what you would need to do and there is always help available at www.ravenphpscripts.com
